MADURAI: “If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman”. By quoting these famous words of former Prime Minister of United Kingdom Margaret Thatcher, the Judge of Madras High Court Ms.Justice L.Victoria Gowri today paid rich tributes to the founder of Lady Doak College (LDC) in Madurai Ms.Katie Wilcox who established this great educational institution here on July 14th 1948 with her valiant vision and a missionary zeal.

“This mighty college was built with zeal and brick by brick by Ms.Katie Wilcox who came to Madurai as a missionary. I am reminded of the words of former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher who strongly believed in the ability of women to get things done. And now, LDC stands tall in the Indian education map and my tributes to that great woman Katie Wilcox who dedicated her life for a cause and purpose with a vision and mission,” Justice Victoria Gowri has said today.

She was speaking at the 77th college birthday, founder’s day and student cabinet inauguration held in LDC campus here today morning-July 14th 2025. The Madras High Court Judge has exhorted the college students to be relentless and resilient despite distractions that will come in their way.
