MADURAI: A national conference on ‘Geospatial Support for Climate Change Adaptation’ is being organized in Madurai from August 12th to August 14th 2026 by the Department of Environmental Remote Sensing and Cartography (ERAC) of Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai.
This national conference is being hosted to commemorate the department’s pearl jubilee year (1996-2026) and National Remote Sensing Day celebration along with grand alumni meet during this conference, according to a press release from MKU here today.
Dr.S.Muthiah, MKU Registrar in-charge, will preside over the inaugural session while Dr.R.S.Suja Rose, Head of Department of Environmental Remote Sensing and Cartography-MKU, is organizing the conference sessions with the help of department faculty by inviting academicians, scientists and environment experts from various parts of the country.
Experts from National Remote Sensing Centre and Census of India along with National Centre for Earth Science Studies have been invited to speak in various sessions that are related to climate change adaptation.
The outcome of this national conference whichg is being hosted by MKU will help strengthening climate resilience through geospatial technologies for climate risk assessment, vulnerability mapping, environmental monitoring and informed climate action to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 13-Climate Action focused by the United Nations, according to a MKU press release here on August 10th 2026.
