MADURAI: A public awareness event called ‘garbage walk’ was conducted by the Madurai district team of Tamil Nadu Science Forum (TNSF) to highlight an urgent action plan that must be implemented by the corporation with public cooperation to keep the city roads clean through effective waste disposal mechanism and garbage cleaning across the city.

Members of TNSF led the walk in association with its north unit members and Al-Ameen Higher Secondary School at K.Pudur in Madurai today morning-August 9th 2026 by covering a few streets in Lourdhe Nagar, Alagar Nagar etc

Mr.S.Sheik Nabi, Headmaster of Al-Ameen Higher Secondary School, had flagged off the garbage walk in the presence of TNSF former State president Prof.S.Dinakaran and TNSF Madurai district president Prof.Antony Paul along with TNSF Madurai north unit secretary Mr.O.Sekhar.

“If our city has to be clean, we must have a joint action plan by the corporation and local residents. While public support is essential for proper disposal of waste, it is also equally important for the corporation authorities to provide adequate dustbins for all streets in our city besides providing more vehicles to collect the waste. We are creating public awareness to prevent dumping of waste in public places,” Mr.S.Sheik Nabi has said.
