MADURAI: India’s population count Census 2027 is all set to begin soon and the Government of India has begun the preparatory exercise already across the country to undertake population census from every home and doorstep.
Madurai District Collector Mr.Gaurav Kumar IAS gave an important public announcement from Madurai today by informing that the population census count will be carried out in two phases and he appealed to the people to cooperate fully in this massive national task which includes house listing, housing census and with digital mode facility.
The self-enumeration begins for this population census will start in digital mode on July 17th 2026 on CMMS portal, and after that the census teams will undertake the population count work from August 1st 2026 to August 30th 2026 for a period of one month as house listing and house census, according to a press release received from Madurai Corporation here today.
A separate portal has been created for the population census and it is CMMS (Census Monitoring and Management System). This self-enumeration mode is available from July 17th 2026 and after that the house census begins.
“In Madurai Corporation, there will be 2,105 census surveyors and there will be 388 census supervisors. Training is being provided to these census teams from July 6th to 23rd,” the corporation press release has said on July 8th 2026.
