Southern Rly GM inspects Madurai Junction; Gets full update of Rs.347 cr works in Madurai station

MADURAI: Southern Railway General Manager Mr.R.N.Singh had today inspected the ongoing station redevelopment works at Madurai Junction here and had an extensive review meeting with the senior railway officials of Madurai Division about the progress of station redevelopment project with particular focus on passenger amenities and infrastructure.

Mr.Omprakash Meena, Divisional Railway Manager-Madurai Division, Mr.S.P.Singh, Chief Engineer (construction), Southern Railway-Chennai, Mr.M.Prasanna, Additional Divisional Railway Manager and Mr.K.G.Gnanasekar, Deputy Chief Engineer (construction) were among those present during the GM’s inspection, a press release from the railway here has informed today-July 10th 2026.

The Madurai Railway Junction is being redeveloped at an estimated cost of Rs.347.47 crores and 50 per cent of this project has been completed till now.

For the west terminal building of Madurai Railway Junction, 167 out of the total 203 pile foundations have been completed, and the Southern Railway GM was briefed about the structural works in east terminal building, air concourse, parcel foot over bridge, subway connectivity, car parking, platform upgradation, two-wheeler parking etc.
