MADURAI: The Rotary International President for 2025-26 Mr.Mario Cesar Martins De Camargo has said that his thrust area will be to increase the membership of Rotary Clubs worldwide and hence he is now going with a ‘People of Action’ plan through Vision 2030 to bring more people into the Rotary.

“Rotary membership in some leading nations is a problem. We lost three lakh members in countries like US, Canada, UK, Australia, Japan etc. The membership interest is declining… In these countries we lost members and the reason could be old age etc. But, membership in India is not a problem, there is no problem in Korea etc. It is a paradox that the Rotary club membership is coming down in the country where the first Rotary club was founded in the year 1905 by a young lawyer and started public service from thereon….As of today, we have 1.4 million Rotary club members in the world and my focus will be to increase Rotary membership through our local level communication and approach. India gave a lot of money to the Rotary Foundation” the Rotary International President for 2025-26 Rtn.Mario Cesar who comes from Brazil has said at a press meet held in Madurai yesterday-September 25th 2024.
