MADURAI: India is going to celebrate its 80th Independence Day tomorrow-August 15th 2026- by paying its tributes and respects to the freedom fighters who fought and sacrificed their lives for the cause of getting freedom from the British rule.
India got its Independence on August 15th 1947 and our tri-colour national flag came into its full existence after getting the freedom from British rule.
While India celebrates every freedom fighter and while every Indian celebrates the Independence Day tomorrow, there is one person who must be particularly remembered while hoisting the national flag and his name is PINGALI VENKAYYA (1876-1963) from Andhra Pradesh who gave the first original design of three-colour Indian national flag while saying specific reasons for every colour that he had put in the national flag.
The first design of Indian national flag which was given by Pingali Venkayya hails from the present Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh in 1920s and he was appreciated by Mahatma Gandhi and after that a few changes were made in 1930s to the original flag design which was given by Pingali Venkayya….and that national flag is being hoisted by India tomorrow for its 80th Independence Day celebrations and it is important to recognize and respect the Indian national flag original designer also tomorrow because we are saluting the national flag which was designed by a very common man from Andhra Pradesh and it was accepted by the freedom struggle heroes of those days.
