MADURAI: At a time when self quarantine, self isolation and complete lock down have become the latest terminology across India to fight the Corona virus, a residential colony in Madurai is doing its own bit to prevent the virus through cleanliness.
Residents of Kannan Colony in Chinthamani in Madurai city have come together on 29th March 2020 and voluntarily gave a chorus saying they will block the Corona virus through traditional methods.
Neem leaves, neem paste, turmeric powder, disinfectants and bleaching powder were their tools to take on the corona. Men and women had first spruced up their streets, sprayed bleaching powder on the pathways and lanes, tied neem leaves for their main doors, mixed neem paste in water ad sprinkled it before their homes and put anti-germ powder along the pathways.
This voluntary effort by the residents of Kannan Colony near Chinthamani in Madurai is commendable for their role in keeping their locality clean. At a time when large number of people are still gathering as crowds in public places despite Section 144 and curfew, this colony is a model because people used their time to fight the Corona.
By staying at home, Kannan Colony is beating Corona virus with a healthy message.
