‘Blind Walk rally’ in Madurai for World Sight Day: Aravind Eye Hospital creates public awareness

MADURAI: Aravind Eye Hospital had organized ‘Blind Walk’ awareness rally in Madurai today-October 8th 2026- to mark World Sight Day.

Participants in this rally which was held from Gandhi Memorial Museum to Aravind Eye Hospital here had walked blindfolded to create public awareness about the importance of eye care and vision, according to a press release from the hospital.

Ms.Madhu Kumari IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police-Madurai, had flagged off the rally in the presence of hospital’s Chief Medical Officer Dr.R.Kim who had presided over the inaugural event, the press release added.

More than 200 employees of Aravind Eye Hospital took part in the blind walk rally along with Dr.S.R.Krishnadas and Dr.Manoranjandas besides Aravind Eye Hospital PRO Mr.S.G.Ramanathan and Aravind Eye Bank manager Mr.Saravanan.
