Degrees make you eligible, but skills will make you employable: Educationist suggests 7 steps for students’ success

PATNA: Educationist and a leading personality who is spearheading spoken English movement in India Dr.Birbal Jha had exhorted the students that communication skills, emotional intelligence, adaptability and leadership qualities are critical to career success.

“Degrees make you eligible, but skills make you employable. Your spoken English is your spoken confidence,” he said while addressing a seminar on ‘Employability Skills: Preparing for the world of work’, as chief speaker at Jagat Narayan Lal College in Khagaul near Patna in Bihar yesterday-August 1st 2025.

Dr.Birbal Jha, who heads the British Lingua and empowered lakhs of youngsters through English and soft skills training, has cited the India Skills Report 2024 which says that 50 per cent of Indian graduates are job-ready but they urgently need skill development.

SEVEN STEPS FOR SUCCESS:

“Brilliance alone won’t get you hired. Structured skill development is the key for your success in life. The seven steps to employability are mastering communication, building a strong resume, adapting a mindset of continuous learning, English speaking, soft skills, emotional strength and adaptability to any situation,” he exhorted the students at the seminar which was jointly organized by the college’s Department of Botany and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

Speaking about the great intellectual legacy of Bihar, Dr.Birbal Jha had pointed out that his ‘English for All’ sessions have reached learners across India and this initiative is helping the Bihar students also in a big way. He gave live demonstrations to the students of Jagat Narayan Lal College at Khagaul near Patna by guiding them with self-introductions, interview methods and English speaking exercises.

Principal Prof.Dr.Madhu Prabha Singh has said that the seminar is a vital step for youth empowerment and many students registered for follow-up training with British Lingua, according to a press release received yesterday.
