What are the solutions for a Greener Planet?: Global Environment Summit held in New Delhi

In New Delhi on June 5th 2025 for World Environment Day.

MADURAI: The Ecosustainable Development Foundation in New Delhi had organized a Global Environment Summit at NDMC Convention Centre in the national capital on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5th 2025.

Environmental scientists, academicians, policymakers, researchers and students took part in this summit which was held with the theme ‘sustainable solutions for a greener planet’ to deliberate on pressing ecological issues.

Dr.Binay Kumar, Organizing Secretary of the summit, had highlighted the present challenges including climate change, loss of biodiversity, air and water pollution, deforestation and waste management, according to a press release received from New Delhi today.

Prof.Dr.Priyaranjan Trivedi, Chancellor of International University in Nagaland, who was the chief guest spoke on the power of eco-entrepreneurship, eco-friendly business practices and how to qualify businesses for green incentives.

Dr.Brajesh Shrivastava from the Central Pollution Control Board, had urged the delegates to take inspiration from national missions like Jal Jeevan Misison, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Namami Gange. Dr.Gopal Sarangi from TERI School of Advanced Studies had stressed on India’s increasing vulnerability to climate events and he called for exploring domestic financing strategies for climate adaptation, the press release said.

Dr.Kuldeep Malik, professor at ITS Engineering College in Greater Noida, was presented the Environmental Education Leadership Award in recognition of his contribution to raise awareness for promoting green solutions.

A case study competition was also held during this summit featuring environment solutions of high impact. Dronacharya Group of Institutions in Greater Noida secured the first position while the pharmacy department of BM College had bagged the second and third positions.

Among those who spoke at the summit include Dr.Ishwar Chandra Yadav from Guru Gobind Singh College with focus on ending the plastic pollution, Dr.Leena Singh of Galgotias College and Ms.Mehak Verma stressing on water conservation.

Dr.Sahab Singh, programme coordinator, welcomed the gathering while Dr.Binay Kumar had proposed a vote of thanks by reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to sustainable development through research, collaboration and action.
