MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan in Chennai has today invited nominations for the Governor’s Awards 2025 and the deadline for submission of applications is 5 pm on August 14th 2025.
Mr.R.N.Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu, will present awards to recognize exemplary contributions in two categories- Social Service and Environment Protection- to celebrate individuals and organisations dedicated towards enhancing societal well-being and promoting environmental stewardship, the Raj Bhavan press release on June 17th 2025 has said.
Applications will be scrutinised by a committee comprising of eminent persons. Four winners will be selected under each category and a cash prize of Rs.5 lakhs will be given for institutional winners (one awardee under each category) and Rs. 2 lakhs will be given for winners under individual category for three awardees in each category along with a citation, the press release said.
While selecting the winners, preference would be given to those deserving individuals and organisations who have done good work but have not received any State-level recognition and this is to encourage them. The awardees who got selected will be felicitated in person by the Tamil Nadu Governor on Republic Day-January 26th 2026.
HOW TO APPLY FOR GOVERNOR AWARDS? :
Individuals or institutions may self nominate by applying themselves. Eminent persons like a serving or retired officer of the rank of secretary to Government and above (Government of Tamil Nadu), Joint Secretary to Government and above (Government of India), Vice-Chancellors of State and Private universities in Tamil Nadu, Padma Awardees or district collectors can nominate deserving persons / institutions who have done exemplary work in social service and environmental protection, if they have demonstrated impactful service of minimum 10 years within Tamil Nadu. The Non-Govenrmental Organizations can also apply for these awards.
Applications can be submitted in the prescribed format which is available on Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan website (https://tnrajbhavan.gov.in). They should be filled up and submitted via email to rajbhavantwoawards2025@gmail.com) and a hard copy of the application with supporting documents should also be sent to ‘The Deputy Secretary to Governor and Comptroller, Governor’s Household Office, Raj Bhavan, Guindy, Chennai- 600 022’.
