TUNNEL IN MADURAI FOR CORONA DISINFECTION

MADURAI: Several precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus are being taken all over India through total lockdown and Section 144 curfew restrictions to avoid crowds in public places.

In Madurai city, Corona Disinfection Tunnel has been created at Madura College where a limited number of temporary vegetable shops have been opened. For people coming here to buy vegetables, this tunnel will take them through a path that was sprayed with disinfectants.

This Corona Disinfection Tunnel was given shape with the help of voluntary organization ‘Yavum Inidhe’ and through the support of Madurai Corporation authorities.

Tamil Nadu Cooperation Minister Mr.Sellur K.Raju inspected the tunnel at Madura College here today- 5th April 2020- along with Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, City Engineer Mr.Arasu, Assistant Commissioner Mr.Palanisamy and others.

“To prevent large crowds and implement social distancing, we have temporarily shifted vegetable shops from main market to 35 places and vegetable shops are there now in playgrounds of various colleges and schools in the city……This tunnel is taking care of sanitisation through disinfectants…..More such tunnels will come up……People should wear facemasks to prevent corona,” Minister Mr.Sellur K Raju has said today.
