MADURAI: Nine shops situated on East Masi Street in Madurai were sealed by Corporation authorities today for violating Social Distancing rules meant to be followed as a part of Coronavirus prevention protocol. (At midnight 4th April they violated).
There was a large crowd in these shops and the social distancing norm was violated, according to a press release from Madurai Corporation here today – 5th April 2020.
As per the directive of Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, the nine shops were sealed and a warning notice was pasted. The shops will have to remain closed till further orders.
Several steps are being taken by the civic body and Madurai district administration to prevent the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19 and preventing crowds/ following social distancing at shops and market places is an important step to prevent the spread of C virus.
Among those Corporation officials who were present during this inspection at East Veli Street here include Assistant Commissioner Mr.Palanisamy, Health Officer Mr.Siva Subramanian and Sanitary Inspector Mr.Selvakumar.
