MADURAI: In a stringent action taken for violating the government order to maintain social distancing amidst present Coronavirus scare, the Madurai Corporation today sealed 50 shops in the city.
On 30th March 2020, Corporation authorities had sealed shops in Kochadai, Bethaniapuram, Kulamangalam, Ellis Nagar, Koodal Nagar, Iyer Bungalow, Thiruppalai, Ismailpuram, Nelpettai, Kamarajar Salai, South Veli Street, South Marret Street and Palanganatham, according to a press release from the corporation today.
To prevent crowding at vegetable markets and to ensure social distancing, the Madurai Corporation has started selling vegetables in residential localities through mobile vans. Accordingly, these mobile vans started selling vegetables in 17 wards in Madurai city from today and the remaining wards will also be covered.
One mobile van will be there for each ward to sell vegetables. There are 100 wards in Madurai Corporation.
