BANGALORE: Academicians have aired their suggestion unanimously in one voice that every high education institution must have a separate research integrity cell to look into ensuring of ethics and prevent plagiarism in thesis and publications.

Dr.Chandra Janakiram of Department of Public Health Dentistry, Amrita Institute, Kochi and Prof.Dr.K.Muthuchelian, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dayananda Sangar University, Bangalore, have strongly expressed that all Ph.D. research scholars should undergo a course on plagiarism and ethics as suggested by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The DSU’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell in association with College of Physiotherapy had organized a workshop on ‘Academic Integrity and Professional Values’ and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Education’ in Bangalore on 1st February 2020.

STOP THE MISCONDUCT:

“Misconduct in research must be stopped. Fabrication, Falsification and Plagiarism should be checked with an iron hand. Fake studies and plagiarism are a worry and it is due to the problems and pressure faced  by researchers for their career or pressure to publish their articles in standard journals,” Dr.Chandra Janakiram had observed.

Dr.Nagesh Lakshminarayan, Professor and Head, Department of Preventive and Social Dentistry, DSU, Bangalore, focused on co-relating spirituality and the basis of research integrity.

Dr.Anil T.John, Principal, College of Physiotherapy, proposed a vote of thanks. Nearly 150 faculty members of DSU had participated in the workshop.
