MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Minister for Cooperation Mr.Sellur K.Raju has said today that 70 lakh people in the State were already given Rs.1,000 Corona relief cash assistance by yesterday and another 1.2 crore people will be given the same in a day or two as per Chief Minister’s order.
“Through ration shops fair price shops, the State government is distributing Rs.1,000 to every rice ration card holder and to construction workers / others who got affected because of Coronavirus total lock down and Section 144 restrictions,” he said talking to reporters at Madurai College in the city on 5th April 2020 after inspecting the temporary vegetable shops and Corona Disinfection Tunnel there.
A voluntary organisation called ‘Yaavum Inidhe’ was also involved in setting up that disinfection tunnel for the benefit of people visiting the vegetable shops. Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, City Engineer Mr.Arasu, AIADMK IT Wing senior office-bearer Mr.V.V. Raj Sathyan, senior corporation officials and Mr.Kamalakannan from ‘Yaavum Inidhe’ were among those present during the Minister’s visit to Madura College here.
