MADURAI: An appeal has been made to the Madurai District Collector, Madurai police and to the Madurai district land/revenue administration authorities to take immediate action for implementing the Madras High Court Madurai Bench order which had directed for removing the encroachments that are continuing in poromboke land in Thiruparankundram in Madurai where commercial complexes and houses were constructed allegedly by CSI administration (Church of South India) encroachers, according to a complaint sent to TN Government today.
Petitioner Mr.D.Devasagayam from Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district had submitted a detailed document to the office of Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Land Administration of Government of Tamil Nadu at Chepauk in Chennai on August 27th 2026 in which he explained that TN Government poromboke land with survey number 36/2A was occupied by CSI and encroachments in this particular piece of Government land were not yet removed as on date by Thiruparankundram thasildhar even though the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court had issued orders on 26-8-2025 to remove the alleged CSI encroachments at that Government poromboke land in Madurai.
“These encroacements were ordered to be removed by the court and officials. Still, they are being allowed to continue in Thiruparankundram in Madurai. I request that orders be issued to remove the government poromboke encroachments made by CSI which set up shops, houses, residences etc in that said land…and bring that land again for public use. We also want strict action against CSI Madurai administration and the conspirators who took away TN government land for constructing buildings that will help for their commercial use,” Mr.D.Devasagayam has said in his second petition appeal dated September 7th 2026 and copies of that were sent to top officials of Tamil Nadu State government including Revenue Department secretary, Commissioner of Land Administration and to Madurai District Collector with an appeal to know what is the status of that Survey No.36/2A land in Thiruparankundram in Madurai following the Madras High Court orders dated 11-02-2026, and he asked whether the government land was retrieved from the encroachers.
