MADURAI: The BJP candidate from Madurai South assembly constituency Prof.Raama Sreenivasan has today assured that a special package for Madurai city will be obtained with the support of Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi from central government funds for improving the basic civic amenities and infrastructure of Madurai city.

“The present DMK government of M.K.Stalin had miserably failed to provide even the basic needs of people in Madurai Corporation limits. There are no roads, no drainage, there is sewerage flowing on the streets everywhere and it is a matter of shame that Madurai finds place in the list of worst cities as far as civic amenities are concerned. So, a special package from our PM Modi for Madurai will be our priority the moment we come to power in Tamil Nadu,” Prof.Raama Sreenivasan told reporters at Teppakulam today morning in his ‘Walk with Professor’ program around the Teppakulam tank where he met the people as a part of his election campaign on April 11th 2026.

From 6.30 am to 8.30 am today, he walked on the roadside pavement along with his party cadres and interacted with the morning walkers and common people.

“Women safety in Madurai South is a serious concern for us because of ganja issue. There is no proper sanitation facilities and underground drainage. Shame that the Madurai Corporation is non-functional for last many years, there is no Mayor, there are no committees and no work was done to improve civic amenities in Madurai city and especially in Madurai South segment. As an MLA, I will take the help of all my party leaders and get a special fund package from Prime Minister,” Prof.Raama Sreenivasan has said and asserted that the DMK must be thrown out of power in this coming assembly elections.
