MADURAI: The Madurai district unit of Tamil Nadu Retired College Teachers’ Association (TANRECTA) has today urged the Central government to protect the pensioners’ interests and immediately withdraw the components in Union Finance Bill 2025 that are badly affecting the pensioners.
A resolution to this effect was passed in the association’s general body meeting held at MUTA Hall in Madurai on June 10th 2025 where the members had appealed to the Union Government to withdraw the finance bill that is against the pensioners and also taking away the pension benefits given by the Eighth Pay Commission.
Prof.G.Ramamoorthy, president, Tamil Nadu Retired College Teachers’ Association-Madurai district unit, Dr.N.Periathambi, secretary, Dr.V.Perumal, treasurer and Prof.T.K.R.Gunavathy, vice president, were among those who addressed the members at today’s meeting while passing four resolutions on behalf of the pensioners.
“We have requested the State government’s higher education department-Directorate of Collegiate Education to take necessary steps regarding 14,940 issues and enable higher pension. Another appeal is to keep Tamil Nadu as a haven of peace and tranquility without any disturbances which affect the peace and harmony in our State. Our association has urged the Tamil Nadu State government to stop anything that disturbs communal harmony in our State because this State will not allow forces or organisations which try to create disturbance,” Dr.N.Periathambi, secretary, has said.
