MADURAI: Career guidance analyst and higher education expert Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi who is well-known for his accurate engineering education trend predictions for the future had alerted B.E. students and parents that there are going to be imminent CSE placement bottlenecks by the year 2030 and passing out students will have to face huge problems in future because of outside challenges in job sector.
“Computer Science Engineering (CSE) is being preferred by students now. But, the year-on-year expansion of CSE and allied branch seats will flood Tamil Nadu with computer science graduates by the year 2030 and it is going to create severe placement challenges for Tier-2 and Tier-3 colleges because software hiring gets normalized by that time by the recruiting software companies due to changing trends,” Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi had alerted yesterday in his TNEA 2026 third round analysis of academic general counselling admission trends in Tamil Nadu based on how students chose their colleges, courses and campuses.
JP GANDHI’S SUMMARY:
Alerting the State Government that choice-filling of colleges still remains a complex issue for rural candidates, Mr.JP Gandhi had informed that the seats vacant at the end of academic counselling are 53,863 this year when compared to 42,512 seats last year.
“The admission trends of TNEA 2026 academic general counselling clearly establishes that ECE (Electronics & Communication Engineering and CSE (Computer Science Engineering) continue to dominate student preferences. When compared to previous years, several core branches like B.E.Mechancial and B.E.Electrical were preferred by students this year. The preference for IT has slightly decreased. Totally 422 engineering colleges had participated in TNEA 2026 academic counselling for admission of students and colleges that filled more than 50 per cent of seats is 264 this year while it was 292 last year. There is going to be imminent CSE placement bottlenecks by 2030,” Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi has said in his detailed analysis report sent to ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai on September 1st 2026 based on third round participation, allotment and college performance analysis.
