MADURAI: The people of Tamil Nadu who are always passionate for Tamil language, Tamil heritage and culture, Tamil traditions and Tamil’s greatness will have a right platform in Madurai from September 4th to September 6th 2026 to participate and celebrate everything that is connected to Tamil Nadu, Tamil language and Tamil soils’s legendary personalities.
Ancient Madurai’s greatness is going to be highlighted via ‘Maa Madurai Vizha 2.0’ through a dedicated Madurai-centric initiative taken by the Young Indians (Yi) Madurai Chapter of India’s prestigious Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) which is the youth wing of this national industry body that works for progress and development of trade and industry all over the country.
C.T.R.Nirmal Kumar, Tamil Nadu Minister for Energy Resources and Law, had unveiled the ‘Maa Madurai Vizha 2.0’ poster at a special curtain-raiser event conducted at Thiagarajar College in Teppakulam in Madurai today morning- August 22nd 2026- where he lauded the efforts being taken by CII’s Young Indians Madurai Chapter with a focused approach for promoting Madurai across the borders and for Yi commitment towards creating ‘Drug Free Madurai’ as per the Tamil Nadu Government’s mission to make Madurai totally drugs-free by strict action by government and public for preventing drug abuse habit among youngsters.
PLEDGE FOR PREVENTING DRUG ABUSE:
The Young Indians team and CII Madurai Zone’s top office-bearers have reiterated their commitment to promote Madurai city for its rich ancient heritage and also to make Madurai as a clean city while joinig hands with the present Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.C.Joseph Vijay to stop drug abuse, drugs supply network and to create a mindset of drug-free new generation in the State. A special pledge was administered for the gathering here today to make a resolve for making Madurai a drug-free city where gutka and ganja will have no place.
“Young Indians is an integral part of CII. We have 180 members in our Madurai Chapter and we are doing many social welfare projects like desilting of our water bodies etc. The upcoming “Maa Madurai Vizha 2.0″ is to celebrate our heritage, unite people and empowering business in this region. We have a passion for Madurai and we will protect our Madurai city’s great heritage from art to water, trees to talent,” Mr.Vikranth Karmegam, Chairperson of Young Indians-Madurai, has said in his welcome address at the curtain raiser event of ‘Maa Madurai Vizha’ here today-August 22nd 2026- where the focus was towards drug-free Madurai and a stronger Madurai.
Rajiv S.Jeyabalan, Chairman of CII-Madurai Zone, S.V.Suraj Sundara Shankar, Convener of ‘Maa Madurai Vizha 2.0 and Faizal Ahmed, past chairperson of Young Indians-Madurai Chapter were among those who had addressed the youngsters at Thiagarajar College in Teppakulam in Madurai.
Prof.Dr.D.Pandiaraja, Principal of Thiagarajar College, had stressed that the time has come to celebrate Madurai with a reverberating sound by highlighting its ancient culture, temples, heritage.
Speakers at today’s event had stressed the need to remove the wrong label that was created in some sections about Madurai as a dirty polluted city by bringing a real change via positive mindset of people who look at Madurai from now on after this second edition of ‘Maa Madurai Vizha 2.0’ that is going to take place on a grand scale through people-participating events in Madurai from September 4th to September 6th 2026 via para sports, kids carnival, food festival, business expo, heritage walk, Madurai quiz, drone show, cricket tournament, marathon, fireworks, wall painting and ‘Maa Madurai Muthamizh Thiruvizha’ etc.
