Press meet at Apollo Speciality Hospitals in Madurai on June 16th 2026 about breast lump and VABB.
MADURAI: For young females and middle-aged women who are facing severe pain in their breasts, the doctors of Apollo Speciality Hospitals in Madurai have today explained from their recent success story that breast care issues can be handled without conventional surgery and tumours or any lump in the breast can be removed without any scar or surgery, thanks to an advanced technique that is available in the hospital.
A 20-year-old female from Tenkasi had recently undergone Vacuum-Assisted Breast Biopsy (VABB) procedure for removal of her benign breast lump (Breast Fibroadenoma) without conventional breast surgery to remove the lump / breast tumour that has been causing pain in her left breast for past four months.
Apollo Madurai team had explained about this scar-free procedure at a press conference organized by the hospital here today-June 16th 2026.
“This VABB procedure was done with just local anesthesia and by using a minimally invasive image-guided technique that helped the removal of benign breast lump by doing a tiny skin incision. A specialized vacuum-assisted device was used to remove the lump in a single session successfully,” Dr.T.Deenadayalan, medical oncologist, Apollo Speciality Hospitals-Madurai told reporters along with Dr.P.Shobana, Medical Head-Apollo Speciality Hospitals-Madurai and Dr.Abdul Kadher, senior anaesthetist at Madurai Apollo.
“Usually, the breast lump or breast tumour will be removed by doing a surgery. But, we did VABB procedure for this young woman to achieve a superior cosmetic outcome. The fibroadenoma was precisely localized and the 4 cm lump in her left breast was removed, and she was discharged on the same day,” Dr.P.Shobana has said.
The Apollo Speciality Hospitals team including interventional radiology consultant Dr.K.B.Santhosh Babu told the media in Madurai today that VABB will have no visible scar and it will be very beneficial for young women who are concerned about breast apperarance and don’t want a surgery.
“This is a lump in woman’s breast that is asymtomatic. She will have severe pain in her breast at one stage, but it is not a cancer. The lump is a swelling with pain. Women will not go to doctors due to anxiety or stigma. This lump is because of hormonal influence only and we advise women to approach the exclusive Breast Clinic that was opened at Apollo Hospital in Madurai last year,” Dr.P.Shobana has said.
Dr.Nikhil Tiwari, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Hospitals-Madurai Cluster, told reporters at today’s press meet that the procedure cost is also very less because it is not not a surgery but only a minimally invasive procedure done with local anesthesia.
