
MADURAI: To motivate and mobilize active participation of people for observing International Day of Yoga 2026 on June 21st 2026, Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar had taken a few steps to ensure very good participation of people in the State in this yoga exercise movement which is an integral part of a healthy life.
“Yoga is one of India’s most valuable gifts to humanity and yoga represents a holistic approach to health and well-being by fostering harmony between the body, mind and spirit. This year’s theme is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”. With a view to facilitate broad-based participation, the Lok Bhavan-Tamil Nadu has launched a dedicated online portal for the International Day of Yoga 2026 in collaboration with Anna University-Chennai,” according to a press release from Lok Bhavan today which highlighted the Tamil Nadu Governor’s appeal for widespread participation of people across the State in yoga events that will take place on June 21st 2026.

“We want more people to participate and contribute towards health, wellness, self-discipline, culture, physical fitness, mental resilience, emotional balance, inner well-being and our rich civilisational heritage,” the Lok Bhavan press release has said.
Institutions and organisations willing to serve as nodal centres for yoga day on June 21st 2026 can register through the nodal centre registration portal by furnishing the details and information relating to the yoga participants.
“Participants attending yoga sessions at designated nodal centres will receive online certificates of participation. Nodal centres have been requested to upload photographs, videos and brief reports of the yoga activities conducted at their respective locations through the given portal after the event. Those nodal centres that demonstrate exemplary partcipation in Yoga Day 2026 activities will be suitably recognized,” the Lok Bhavan press release on June 17th 2026 has said and added that yoga can promote healthy ageing and hence the Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has called upon educational institutions, universities, schools, industries, commercial establishments, local bodies, government offices, community groups and voluntary organisations across the State to conduct and participate in Yoga activities on June 21st 2026 (International Day of Yoga 2026).
