MADURAI: The Union Ministry of Electronics & IT has clarified today evening that the social media posts and intermittent news reports about ‘new look’ of Aadhaar card are not correct and that there is no plan for any changes in the look of Aadhaar.

“There are intermittent news reports and social media posts saying how Aadhaar’s look may change by the end of this year to just a photo and QR code alone. This is not correct and there is no plan for any such changes,” the Ministry had clarified in a press statement issued on May 3rd 2026 through the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

Stating that such false news reports and false social media posts are creating confusion among people, the Ministry of Electronics and IT of Government of India had urged people to ignore such reports and refer only to official communication from UIDAI through its official social media handles and press releases issued through PIB.

“Media is also advised not to encourage such information about change in Aadhaar look. This is a clarification for public,” the press release added.
