MADURAI: Distinguished individuals who have rendered yeomen service in their respective fields were presented with ‘Atchaya Seva Ratna’ awards at a function held in Madurai on April 14th 2026 to commemorate the Tamil New Year Day.
Voluntary service organization ‘Maduraiyin Atchaya Paathiram Trust’ had chosen 22 individuals from various walks of life and they were honoured with the awards in recognition of their contributions to the society through their chosen fields, Trust chairman Mr.Nellai Balu has said in a press release here yesterday.
Noted writer Mr.Lena Tamilvanan had presented the certificate of appreciation to them and lauded their deep commitment towards the society and exemplary work as role model individuals.
The awardees include Prof.Abdul Kadir, former Principal of Wakf Board College in Madurai, Ms.Sharmila Madhavan, president, Rotary Club of Madurai Blossom and Dr.Shanthi, meditation trainer at Brahma Kumaris in Madurai.
Speaking at the awards presentation function, Mr.Nellai Balu has said that ‘Maduraiyin Atchaya Paathiram Trust’ has been providing free food to needy people for the last six years and this humanitarian service began during the COVID-19 pandemic time when underprivileged people were struggling due to hunger and searching for food.
Mr.Lena Tamilvanan has said that the awards give motivation to do more service and it is a recognition for their great work. The other awardees include industrialist Sai Bamra, Ramanathan, Ramesh, Al Kasim, Senthil, advocate Chockalingam, Suresh, Uma Maheswari, Saravanan and Mohan.
