MADURAI: Two brothers from Madhya Pradesh who are more than 70 years of age have undertaken a ‘Cycle Yatra’ from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to pedal the message of peace and harmony, environment protection and saving of water resources by rejuvenating the rivers.

The brothers- Mr.Anand Dubey (70) and Mr.Devendra Dubey (72)- who hail from Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh had culminated their cycle yatra in Madurai today-February 6th 2026- after paying floral tributes to the Father of the Nation at Gandhi Memorial Museum.

They were received and accorded a warm welcome by Kanchi devotee social worker Mr.Nellai Balu of Maduraiyin Atchaya Paathiram Trust and Bharathi Yuva Kendra along with Mr.K.R.Nanda Rao, secretary, Gandhi Memorial Museum-Madurai and others.

“Cycling for such a long distance from Kashmir to Kanyakumari for a national cause by these two aged persons is really a message of motivation for the younger generation today. At a time when we can’t even ride a bicycle daily, these two Dubey brothers underook an important mission with a message for peaceful India and Green India. Madurai welcomes them and acknowledges their commitment for our environment,” Mr.Nellai Balu has said after garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi along with the two brothers from Madhya Pradesh.

Mr.Anand Dubey (ayurveda doctor) and Mr.Devendra Dubey (teacher) told reporters that they had started their cycle yatra from Srinagar on December 25th 2025 and touched the shores of Kanyakumari where they were thrilled to see the historical greatness of that soil because of Swami Vivekananda.

“We are winding up our yatra in Madurai today-February 6th 2026 and returning to our hometown by train to Narasingpur…Our appeal to the present day children and youth of India is to remember the great scacrifices of our national leaders. Our tributes to every patriot of India- Chandrasekar Azad, Bhagat Singh and others. Gandhiji taught us peace doctrine and how to shun violence. Our cycle yatra is also for public awareness to protect our water bodies, rivers etc. Our country must avoid water crisis through people’s participation and national scheme like Jal Jeevan Misison of Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi’s government is a right decision to prevent water crisis and for our environmental protection,” Mr.Anand Dubey (age 70) has said at Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai while speaking to the media today afternoon.
