MADURAI: Aravind Eye Hospital’s new building at Salem with state-of-the-art facilities will be inaugurated on December 14th 2025.

In order to meet the growing demand in that region, the hospital had constructed a new building spread over 2.5 lakh sq.ft on seven acres of land and it can serve 2,000 patients everyday, can peform 150 eye surgeries daily through 14 operation theatres.

Supreme Court Judge Justice R.Mahadevan will inaugurate the new building of Aravind Eye Hospital at Salem along with guest of honour Dr.M.Ramasami, Chairman of Rasi Seeds (P) Ltd in Salem in the presence of Aravind Eye Care System’s management team, doctors and staff.

“Madurai-headquartered Aravind Eye Hospital is now already functioning at Nethimedu in Salem since the year 2011 catering to the eyecare needs of people in western region of Tamil Nadu. To meet the increasing need there, the new building with top class facilities was built at Uthamasolapuram on the Salem-Coimbatore highway. The new facility has all subspecialty units and provides parking facility for up to 300 cars,” according to information from the hospital here today.

Dr.R.Kim, president, GOVEL Trust, Dr.S.Aravind, Director-Projects, Aravind Eye Care System (AECS), Dr.G.Natchiar, Director Emeritus, AECS and Dr.R.D.Ravindran, Chairman, AECS will be among those who will attend the new building inaugural function at Salem on December 14th 2025 along with Thulasiraj Ravilla, Executive Director Emeritus, LAICO and Dr.N.Venkatesh Prajna, Director-Finance of AECS besides Dr.B.Manohar Babu, Chief Medical Officer of Aravind Eye Hospital-Salem and Dr.J.Anuja, consultant, Cornea & Refractive Surgery, Aravind-Salem.
