
MADURAI: Social worker from Madurai and founder of ‘Maduraiyin Atchaya Paathiram Trust’ Mr.Nellai Balu was presented with Best Social Worker Award at a function held in Chennai on November 28th 2025 for his continued support in poor feeding.
He received certificate of appreciation from former Health Minister Dr.H.V.Hande whose 99th birthday event was specially conducted by Naveen Fine Arts at Rajah Annamalai Mandram in Chennai by carrying out welfare activities and honouring persons involved in social service.
In a press statement here yesterday, Mr.Nellai Balu has said that he was very thrilled to recieve appreciation from former Minister Dr.H.V.Hande who is a distinguished public personality with several decades of experience in public life.
“Our Trust is providing food as a service activity in Madurai for last 1,700 days to those who are living on streets. Free lunch is being given by our Trust to 300 persons daily in Madurai city. This Trust was started during the second wave of COVID pandemic to help road dwellers, homeless and mentally challenged persons with our food packets. In recognition of our work, the appreciation award was given to me by Chennai-based Naveen Fine Arts at the 99th birthday of Dr.H.V.Hande. Our thanks to all those who are supporting us and encouraging us in our work,” Mr.Nellai Balu has said.
