Young Indians think tall for 2,025 palm trees plantation drive at Thirumangalam near Madurai

MADURAI: The Madurai Chapter of Young Indians (Yi) had taken up palm tree plantation drive in rural pockets of Thirumangalam in Madurai district on August 2nd 2025 by sowing palm seeds as a part of its rural initiatives and climate change verticals to grow 2,025 palm trees in that area.

This drive was intended to promote sustainable rural development and environment conservation through community participation and climate-focused action, according to a press release received here today.

“Sow with the Season, Harvest with Hope… is the tagline of this palm trees plantation drive and it covered Kokkulam, Kaamachipuram panchayat, Vadakara panchayat and Naduvan panchayat. The support of our members is very encouraging,” Mr.Pon Kumar, Chair of Climate Change vertical, Yi Madurai Chapter, has informed.

Mr.Shenher Lal, Chair of Yi Madurai Chapter and members including Mr.Yogavel Nagarajan and Mr.Santhana Ayyappan along with women’s coordinator Ms.Selvi had participated in the palm tree plantation drive.
