
MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association from Madurai has submitted a comprehensive memorandum today urging the top officials to take steps for solving the GST issues faced by manufacturers and traders.
A delegation from this association met the Chief Commissioner of Central GST-Central Excise Mr.Mathan Mohan Singh IRS and State Commercial Tax Commissioner Mr.S.Nagarajan IAS in Chennai on August 5th 2025 and briefed him about the requirements on behalf of foodgrains merchants and totally 32 points were mentioned in the memorandum.
The request includes reduction of GST rate on pickles from 12 per cent to 0 per cent or 5 per cent, request to stop the rumours about change in GST slabs, to appoint the member for Appellate Tribunal under Goods and Services Act, request for revising GST rate of paper products from 18 per cent to 12 per cent and to rationalize GST rate slabs for essential food commodities.
Those who met the GST officials in Chennai today include association president Mr.S.V.S.S.Velshankar, honorary secretary Mr.S.Sai Subramaniam and honorary advisor Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam along with other office-bearers.
