MADURAI: An innovative idea of rail coach dormitory is going to be implemented at Rameswaram railway station very soon.
The Commercial Department of Madurai division of Southern Raliway has called for e-auction on July 15th 2025 for setting up the proposed rail coach dormitory at Rameswaram
Station.
The Railwyas will provide 5 life-ended coaches for the proposed rail dormitory. The successful bidder shall refurbish these coaches into suitable accommodation by modifying them, according to a railway press release here toady-July 5 2025.
While the tenure of the contract will be for 5 years,the tariff for accommodation will be market – driven.
According to the railways the objective of the rail dormitory is to provide safe, economical and comfortable accommodation for train passengers, tourists and the general public at an affordable price.
