MADURAI: An indoor stadium that has one volleyball court and three shuttle badminton courts was inaugurated at Lady Doak College (LDC) in Madurai today-July 9th 2025.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration Mr.P.Moorthy had opened the Platinum Jubilee Indoor Stadium in LDC campus here in the presence of Madurai District Collector Mr.J.Praveen Kumar, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Ms.Chitra Vijayan and Lady Doak College Principal and Secretary Dr.R.Beulah Jeyashree.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister has said that sports also is equally important for students along with their regular studies.
“This indoor stadium helps students to shine in games. The sports quota for jobs is a step to encourage students towards sports and games. I also want LDC to help students in rural areas by promoting sports activities in its satellite campus at Velichanatham near Madurai,” Mr.Moorthy added.
Principal Dr.R.Beulah Jeyashree, who proposed a vote of thanks at the inaugural function, has said that the indoor stadium had come up at a cost of Rs.1.6 crores and it will be a podium for future sports achievements by students of LDC and also from government educational institutions.
The college management has also thanked Member of Parliament Mr.S.Kalyanasundaram for supporting the stadium project in LDC.
