
VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Chamber and AP Sarpanches’ Association have given a ‘Chalo Assembly’ protest on February 6th 2024 to make their demands as the assembly session is going to commence and the TDP will make a march with the village sarpanches.
“In Andhra Pradesh, there are 12,918 Gram Panchayats. The Central Government had given Rs.8,629 crores but the money that came as Central funds for Panchayats were diverted and not given to the Panchayats. The honorary remuneration salary for sarpanches and MPTCs should be increased to Rs.15,000 and for ZPTCs it should be Rs.30,000,” Mr.Y.V.B.Rajendra Prasad, president, AP Panchayat Raj Chamber, has said in his appeal today.
To press for various 16 demands, the association has called for ‘Chalo Assembly’ call on February 6th from 9 am and urged all members to reach Vijayawada-Amaravati assembly area and participate in the agitation on that day to secure the rights of Sarpanches.
The demands of this chamber and association was supported and a State-wide call was given by leaders including Mr.V.Lakshmi Muthyalarao, B.Pratap Reddy (State general secretary of AP Panchayat Raj Chamber) and Mr.Pagadala Ramesh of Sarpanches Association in Andhra Pradesh.
