Guru Nanak College in Chennai hosts 8th edition of ‘Gurushiksha’ to mark Guru Nanak’s 555th birth anniversary

CHENNAI: A State-level intercollegiate and inter-school competition named ‘Guru Shiksha’ was organised by Guru Nanak College in Velachery in Chennai on January 30th and 31st 2024.

Dr.Sandeep Rai Rathore, Commissioner of Police-Chennai, who was the chief guest had distributed prizes comprising a total monetary endowment of Rs.11 lakhs to winners along with certificates and trophies at this eighth edition of Gurushiksha, while Mrs.Shilpam Kapur Rathore, founder and managing trustee of Aranya Foundation, had congratulated all the participants for their enthusiasm, according to a press release received from the college here today.

The ‘Gurushiksha’ competitions and events were organized to commemorate the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Dr.T.K.Avvai Kothai, Principal, Guru Nanak College, said that the college is proud to host the 8th edition of Gurushiksha.

“Our college which was established in the year 1971 is dedicated to upholding the profound ideologies of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and enduring values of communal accord, monotheism and universal brotherhood. These remain imperative in the institution’s educational mission,” the college Principal added.

Various competitions including oratorical contest, poster making etc were conducted in which a large number of institutions participated including 38 colleges and 26 schools, the press release said. Dr.Swati Paliwal, Head, GNCCOI, had proposed a vote of thanks at the prize distribution function.
