MADURAI: Educationist and general secretary of State Platform for Common School System-Tamil Nadu Mr.P.B.Prince Gajendra Babu had today lashed out at the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi government’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 saying that it is nothing but a ‘Dehumanizing Document’ that is a threat to India, its students and education system.

“NEP is nothing but a dehumanizing document. There is nothing called education in this NEP of Modi government. There is going to be confusion at all levels from schools to universities. NEP 2020 is a symbol of fascism and it will be demolishing the great concept called India. The so called National Education Policy of Modi government will lead to De-Schooling because its focus is on online and digital mode of teaching-learning. The implementation of NEP make our children and our students as jack of all trades and master of none,” he said speaking at the ‘Save Higher Education Conference’ organized by teachers’ body MUTA in Madurai today- on January 7th 2023.

EDUCATION GETTING REDUCED TO JUST LITERACY:

Expressing concern that the present higher education situation is alarming, he said that the teaching community is under threat due to NEP brought out by Modi government. “India is not just about brick or land. It is a concept called India. The 66 pages excerpts or what you call highlights of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 did not say anything about education, the policy or objectives. This NEP is reducing the entire educational activity to just about literacy. From primary education to university to research, there is nothing about education in this policy and its only focus is on digital learning, soft skills and online teaching mode. In the name of multi-disciplinary method, we should not kill the education system,” Mr.Prince Gajendra Babu had said.

He also pointed out that India is a sub-continent with different characters and that both Dravidian and Indian are same. “We are ready for a debate with the Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi on the National Education Policy. Infact, we wrote a letter to the TN Governor calling for a public debate and that letter was sent to him by registered post more than three months back. We are yet to get a reply,” he told the MUTA members.

Madurai Lok Sabha MP Mr.Su.Venkatesan, former president of MUTA Prof.A.James William and MUTA office-bearers including Dr.G.Raju, B.Stephen John, A.Wilson Baskar, P.K.Periasamy Raja and M.Umayavalli were among those who were present. The two-day conference is being organized by MUTA in Madurai on January 7th and 8th 2023.

Prof.M.Nagarajan, MUTA general secretary and several others are addressing the gathering on various sessions connected to higher education, at this 25th public conference of MUTA
