MADURAI: Police in Madurai district have booked a case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionaries for violating the Corona lockdown rules, social distancing and public gathering at Sholavandhan here yesterday. The Madurai district police took a serious note of the COVID-19 lockdown violations by 130 BJP workers at Sholavandhan near Madurai on 29th August 2020 during the opening of a ‘Farmers Sevai Mayyam’ centre there yesterday. Tamil Nadu BJP State Vice-President Mrs.A.R.Mahalakshmi and others were involved, not wearing masks. (VIDEO).
According to information received from police sources, the incident took place at Sholavandhan yesterday where a large number of BJP cadres had gathered for the inauguration of a centre held by the BJP’s farmers wing here.

The police had booked case against BJP functionaries because COVID lockdown norms were flouted in the presence of State Vice-President Mrs.A.R.Mahalakshmi where Tamil Nadu BJP State General Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan and others for not adhering to the social distancing rule which is important now due to Corona virus prevention lockdown. “Police case has been registered against TN BJP State general secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan, farmers’ wing State vice-president Mani and others. Totally 100 men and 30 women belonging to the BJP have been booked by the Sholavandhan police in Madurai district yesterday and today,” sources said here on 30th August 2020.
