MADURAI: A state-of-the-art surgical robot was added to the medical treatment arsenal of Vadamalayan Hospitals in Madurai today-October 8th 2026- to provide an advanced healthcare to patients as per latest cutting-edge technology at affordable cost in its Madurai and Dindigul centres.

The Made in India ‘SSi surgical robot’ was formally introduced and inaugurated in Vadamalayan Hospital here today by Dr.Vaddi Chandra Mohan from Hyderabad who is a renowned urology specialist and Managing Director of Preeti Urology and Kidney Hospitals in Hyderabad along with Mr.Srinivasa Reddy, Vice-President of SS Innovations who spoke about the robot’s surgical advantages to surgeons with its dexterity, precision, 3D magnified vision, minimal blood loss, smaller incisions, faster recovery, shorter hospital stay and the tech facility to monitor surgery from anywhere in India and abroad.

Dr.V.Pugalagiri, Chairman and Managing Director of Vadamalayan Hospitals, Mrs.Chandra Pugalagiri, Joint Managing Director, Dr.V.Pappunathan, Medical Director, Vadamalayan Hospitals, Dr.P.Babu, consultant cardiothoracic surgeon and Dr.S.Alagu Ganesh, surgical oncologist, were among those who were present at the inaugural function cum press meet in Madurai today-October 8th 2026 while Dr.S.Sundararajan, Director-Medical Services, Vadamalayan Hospitals, had proposed a vote of thanks.

APPEAL TO TAMIL NADU CM:

Stating that SSi Mantra surgical robotic system is cheaper because it is driven by Indian Government’s Made in India motivation mission, Mr.Srinivasa Reddy told reporters at today’s press meet that the robotic machine treatment method too must be integrated in Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme of Tamil Nadu State government and in other States also because robotic technology for patients’ treatment is going to be the future and CM Health Insurance Scheme should cover robotic also to help the poor people get a fast advanced medical treatment.

Dr.V.Pugalagiri, CMD of Vadamalayan Hospitals, has said in his welcome address that the introduction of robotic Robotic surgery from today is a milestone because the hospital is celebrating its 70th year this year in 2026 and “we wish and will work to cross 100 robotic surgery cases very soon”.

The SSI surgical robotic system machine with a human touch which is meant for faster recovery, less pain, early discharge and quick return to physical activity will be utilized in cardiothoracic, urology, gynaecology, gastrointestinal, oncology and general medicine departments, according to a press release from Vadamalayan Hospitals in Madurai at the inaugural function here today-October 8th 2026.
