Madurai Fish Market shifted to Arapalayam

MADURAI: The Karimedu wholesale fish market situated at New Jail Road in Madurai has been temporarily shifted to Arapalayam Bus Stand here as a part of crowd prevention measures to check spread of Coronavirus.

Karimedu wholesale fish market will be closed from 31st March 2020 and te shops there will function from Arapalayam bus stand, according to a press release here today. The wholesale fish market will function from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for wholesale sellers.

Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay and Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan had taken this decision to temporarily shift the Karimedu wholesale fish market in order to prevent large crowds in Karimedu area. Section 144 and complete lockdown are being implemented in the city as a part of precuationary and preventive steps to chech the spread of Coronavirus.
