Madurai has foodstocks, isolation beds & ventilators (Video)

MADURAI: A comprehensive review cum coordination meeting was held at the Madurai District Collectorate here today- 30th March 2020- which was chaired by Minister for Cooperation Mr.Sellur K.Raju. The plan of action to deal with the current situation in the wake of complete lockdown due to Corona curfew was discussed. 

District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, City Police Commissioner Mr.Davidson Devasirvatham  and officials from various departments attended this meeting today.

VENTILATORS AND ISOLATION WARDS:

Minister Mr.Sellur Raju told reporters after that meeting that there is nothing to worry in Madurai with regard availability of isolation wards, beds in hospitals, ventilators and foostocks/ commodities in ration shops etc.

“Madurai is equipped to handle this Corona situation. There are 386 isolation beds…….There are isolation wards in Government Rajaji Hospital, Velammal Hospital, Meenakshi Mission Hospital, Apollo Hospital and Vadamalayan Hospital. There are also 295 ventilators available totally and besides these hospitals, there are another six ventilators available in Preethi Hospital…..There need not be any doubt about our preparedness in Madurai,” the Minister said after the coordination meeting.

Mr.Sellur K.Raju also assured that there are sufficient stocks of foodstocks, food grains available in civil supplies godowns in Madurai district and they are being taken to ration shops in a phased manner. 

“Supplies are good and people need not worry about that. Ration card holders will be given Rs.1,000 each from 2nd April. Per day, 100 persons will be given the amount to prevent crowd at ration shops. Those who are at present out of Madurai will also be given Rs.1,000 after their return to Madurai……..Special arrangements have been made by the district administration to take care of 2,590 persons from other States who are working at various sites by giving them food etc…….Strict surveillance and contact tracing is being done with regard to the person who died of Coronavirus recently at Anna Nagar area in Madurai…..” he added.
