MADURAI: The divine emotional connect of devotees with Goddess Meenakshi was fully visible in the temple city of Madurai with showering of her eternal blessings at the ‘Maha Kumbabhishekam’ of famous Sree Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple which took place in Madurai today morning-September 17th 2026- amidst thousands of devotees who turned up to witness the sacred consecration ceremony.
Amidst chanting of vedic hymns by temple priests, the sprinkling of holy waters was performed between 7.40 am and 8.10 am today morning in the presence of a huge congregation of devotees who were eager to see the ‘Maha Kumbabishekam’ of world famous Sri Meenakshi Temple which took place after a gap of 17 years.
Tight security arrangements were made by the police for crowd management while the district administration along with Madurai Corporation had put in place a series of measures for smooth conduct of this holy sacred ceremony.
After the ‘Maha Kumbabishekam’ ceremony, the devotees are being allowed inside the temple for ‘darshan’ and the city wore a festive look.
The mood in Madurai today was summed up by prominent personality in city Mr.S.Rethinavelu in a message today with his words “Our prayer to Goddess Meenakshi. This Kumbabishekam is a divine renewal, eternal blessings for all. This is a timeless temple in glorious Madurai. Let Madurai prosper in harmony, culture and compassion.
