MADURAI: Globally respected eye care hospital-Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai-which was started in a small way five decades back by a visionary founder Dr.G.Venkataswamy is going to celebrate its golden jubilee on September 20th 2026 at a specially organized event in Madurai where tributes will be paid to the founder’s call to give ‘Sight for All’.
The Aravind Eye Care System here is taking this day as a special occasion to pay tributes to its great founder Dr.G.Venkataswamy who said in the 80s itself to see all as one and to have a vision to give sight for all by using wisdom all over the world.
“Board of Trustees of Aravind Eye Care System, GOVEL Trust and the management of Aravind Eye Care System are celebrating this great golden jubilee day on 20th September with the wishes of people who got their vision and eyesight from this hospital in Madurai and its eye care centres at different places in Tamil Nadu and in other places where the expert Aravind Eye Hospital team is treating the eye patients,” according to information received in Madurai today.
Mr.B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and an educationist from Coimbatore was invited as chief guest for the Aravind Eye Hospital’s 50 years of service event to be held in Madurai on September 20th 2026 in the presence of Dr.Gullapalli Nageswara Rao, founder-chairman of the prestigious L V Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad along with Dr.V.Panneer Selvam, founder and director of Arasan Eye Hospital in Erode, Mr.R.Ramaraj, Co-founder of Sify and advisor of Aurolab besides Prof.R.Raja Govindasamy, past district governor of Rotary International District 3000 and the mission of this golden jubilee of Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai (1976-2026) is “to see all as one and to give sight for all” by treating preventable blindness through cataract surgeries etc many decades back.
