MADURAI: Corporation Commissioner Mr.Gaurav Kumar IAS had carried out a surprise spot inspection in hotels that are located on the opposite side of Mattuthavani bus stand in Madurai city today-August 7th 2026.
He had taken details of those hotels and eateries that have encroached beyond their hotel area limits and he had directed the corporation officials to take immediate steps to take action and get the encroached area back to the Madurai Corporation, according to a press release here today.
The Madurai Corporation Commissioner had also checked the plastic carry bags being used in the hotels at Mattuthavani in Madurai today and he had ordered for immediate seizure of plastic covers which are banned by the government , the press release added.
He also warned the hotels, eateries and food shops in Madurai city that the corporation will levy fine to them if they continue to use the banned plastic carry bags and plastic covers to give food parcel to customers.
Mr.Gaurav Kumar IAS also carried out inspection at the two-wheeler parking area in Mattuthavani bus stand area and he enquired about the license that was given to those who got two-wheeler parking license in Mattuthavani area and he got the details about license renewal etc, according to the corporation press release in Madurai today-August 7th 2026.
Among those who were present during the Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.Gaurav Kumar’s inspection at Mattuthavani bus stand area in Madurai city today morning include assistant commissioners Mr.Manimaran and Mr.Tamilarasan along with city planning officer Mr.Murali and other corporation officers, the press release said.
