MADURAI: Leading body for representing industry issues-MADITSSIA-which is an influential voice for trade and industries’ requirements in Madurai region had pointed out the important demands of MSMEs which are missing in the Tamil Nadu State budget for 2026-27 that was presented in the Assembly yesterday-August 5th 2026.
The Madurai District Tiny & Small Scale Industries Association had said that the State budget did not address important expectations of MSME sector and the points in particular are with regard to electricity charges, solar set-off facility, capital subsidy for installing solar power systems and full infrastructure support by the government for setting up private industrial estates.
“Electricity charges for industries should be reduced. Also, industries must be allowed to avail the solar set-off facility similar to the benefit currently available for domestic consumers. Although electricity charges continue to increase, the TN Budget had not provided the 25 per cent capital subsidy for installing solar power systems in industrial units because this will help MSMEs to reduce energy costs. But, this expectation is missing in the budget,” Mr.V.Senthikumar, MADITSSIA president, has said in a press note yesterday while giving the association’s reaction to Tamil Nadu budget for 2026-27.
BANK LOANS FOR SMALL ENTERPRISES:
MADITSSIA had urged the State government to introduce a collateral-free loan scheme for MSMEs because it will enable small enterprises that are unable to provide collateral security to access bank finance and expand their businesses.
“Our another long-standing demand is that the government should provide 100 per cent infrastructure support for establishing private industrial estates, but this was not addressed in the budget,” Mr.V.Senthikumar had added.
At the same time, the association had welcomed several announcements made by the Tamil Nadu Finance Minister in yesterday’s budget for 2026-27 and it welcomed single window portal 3.0 to simplify and accelerate the process for setting up new industries, use of AI for faster processing of applications and the announcement about space industrial park in southern districts of Tamil Nadu particularly in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli region among other TN budget announcements.
