MADURAI: Engineering graduates of 2025 batch of Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) in Madurai had a pep up motivation opportunity today at the graduation ceremony of TCE batch 2025 held in the college campus here- April 4th 2026.

Mr.Ashutosh Gupta, Managing Director, Coursera, was the chief guest while TCE alumni and IAS officer Mr.V.Saravana Kumar who is an old student of TCE 1994 batch and is presently Divisional Commissioner at Jaipur in Rajasthan was the guest of honour.

“If you stop learning new things in your life, it means you are dead. This was what former Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh told us when I became IAS officer in the year 2006. I studied in TCE in Madurai and I got 82nd rank in UPSC Civil Services Exam 2006, but I was a very ordinary student who could make it to the IAS just because of my passion and structured format model followed by me,” he said while addressing the TCE fresh graduates at the graduation ceremony held in TCE campus in Madurai today-April 4th 2026.

IAS officer Mr.V.Saravana Kumar ( a B.E.Mechnical alumnus from TCE 1994 batch) has said that he started preparing for UPSC Civil Services exam at the age of 30 years after a long gap of completing his college studies and working as an ordinary employee in various firms.

“But, I got 82nd rank in the 2006 UPSC exams and I became an IAS officer. Civil Services IAS exam is easy if you follow a structured format in life from early part of your career…To become IAS is simple and easy, but you need to follow basics and preparation discipline. I became IAS only after a long gap after my college studies. So, the point I am telling you today is that if you stop learning you are dead. Keep learning something continuously and that was what our former PM Dr.Manmohan Singh told our batch of fresh IAS officers when I cleared the UPSC exam and became an IAS officer,” Mr.V.Saravana Kumar told the young graduates at TCE graduation day ceremony held in Madurai on April 4th 2026.

Mr.K.Hari Thiagarajan, Chairman and Correspondent, TCE-Madurai and Dr.L.Ashok Kumar, Principal of TCE were among those who spoke on how TCE is making rapid strides to make challenges in to opportunities for engineering graduates of TCE by implementing latest technology learning system modules in the college campus and how TCE has emerged as a national level reputed institution from Madurai in a gradual manner.
