MADURAI: The Meenakshi Super Speciality Hospital in Madurai is hosting a three-day exclusive conference to demonstrate the latest surgical techniques that have come to remove deep skull base tumours by using an endoscope without doing open surgery.

This conference cum cadaver workshop training sessions will be held in the hospital here from February 20th to 22nd with participation of experts and young medical professionals in neurology, neurosurgery and ENT from across the country who will equip the young medical professionals about the minimally invasive techniques available now to remove tumours that are located in deep skull base.

At a press meet in Madurai today, the experts of Meenakshi Super Speciality Hospital have explained about the ‘Meenakshi Neuroendocon 2026’ conference which is being organized in association with Madurai Medical College.

“There will be CME session, lectures by expert doctors and a hands-on cadaveric dissection workshop. The Government Rajaji Hospital-Madurai Medical College team is also involved in this conference which will highlight TONES (Transorbital Neuroendoscopic Surgery) to enhance surgical skills while handling the patients with skull tumours via extended approach,” Dr.K.Selvamuthukumaran, senior consultant and Head of Department of Neurosurgery at Meenakshi Super Speciality Hospital in Madurai told reporters at the press meet on February 18th 2026.

A live surgery is also planned on February 22nd 2026 because the hospital’s neuro and ENT team have successfully done the extended endoscopic approach to remove skull tumours for five patients and they are doing well, he added.

Dr.K.Senthil Kumar, senior consultant, Department of Neurosurgery, has said that the latest surgical skills will help in precision and the hospital has a top class neuro surgery team to perform challenging procedures with good results to patients.

Dr.D.R.Nageshwaran, Head of Department of ENT, has said that the extended endoscopic approach goes beyond conventional anatomical boundaries to access complex regions in skull and surrounding areas without affecting the brain.
