MADURAI: The Madurai Division of Southern Railway had won six shields for its good performance in the year 2024-25 and the awards were presented at the 70th Railway Week celebrations event and ‘Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar 2025’ ceremony held at ICF in Chennai today-October 7th 2025.
Awards distribution ceremony was organized in Chennai to recognize and honour outstanding railway officers and staff of Southern Railway with individual awards for their meritorious performance besides presenting shields to various railway divisions, departments and railway workshops.
Mr.R.N.Singh, General Manager of Southern Railway, had congratulated the awardees today and spoke on how the Southern Railway is making rapid strides to upgrade railway infrastructure and passenger amenities in railway stations and on-board with various projects.
According to a railway press release here today evening, the Divisional Railway Manager of Madurai Division Mr.Om Prakash Meena along with branch officers had received the awards from the Southern Railway General Manager in Chennai in the presence of heads of departments of different wings in the railway.
“The Madurai Division has received personal efficiency shield, planning-work study shield, Rajbhasha rolling shield, inter-divisional cleanliness shield and it was runner-up in Rail Madad Handling. The Divisional Railway Hospital in Madurai was recognized as the best family welfare centre,” the press release has informed. Two officers and 10 staff members of Madurai Division were honoured with the ‘Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar 2025’ award for their excellent work during the year 2024-25, the press release has added.
The DRM along with Divisional Personnel Officer Mr.T.Sankaran had received the Personnel Efficiency Shield from Southern Railway General Manager Mr.R.N.Singh and Mr.Harikrishnan, Principal Chief Personnel Officer in Chennai today- October 7th 2025.
