MADURAI: Ms.Elamathi Arul, one of the founding members and Director of Green Fem, was conferred ‘Woman of the Year Award’ by the Madurai Chapter of Soroptimist International (SI) here recently.
The award was presented to her by SI members at the 15th charter anniversary celebration of SI Madurai in recognition of her outstanding contribution to advance gender equality, economic empowerment of women and shaping a large number of women entrepreneurs through grassroots community development across Tamil Nadu.
Green Fem Producer Company Ltd is a women empowerment initiative that produces eco-friendly products and help women entrepreneurs to market their products.
“This year’s awardee Ms.Elamathi Arul stands as a shining example of action-oriented leadership deeply rooted in community realities. She is a seasoned gender and community development specialist who has empowered thousands of women in Madurai, Theni, Ramanathapuram and Virudhunagar districts. She is a pioneer in promoting sustainable livelihoods, and a woman who turns challenges into opportunities, and she truly embodies the spirit of ‘women inspiring action, transforming lives’ with her ability,” the award citation has said.
Dr.Lakshmi Subburaj, president, Soroptimist International-Madurai and Ms.Anita Britto, secretary, along with SI Madurai members Divyeah Ramu, Dr.Janet and Mehrun Ismail had felicitated Ms.Elamathi Arul for getting the award at the 15th charter anniversary event held on September 2nd 2025.
