
MADURAI: Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Cooperatives Mr.Sellur K.Raju today inspected the four Chithirai Streets near the famous Meenakshi Temple in Madurai. On 10th October 2020, he along with Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan and senior official, went to the Chithirai Streets near Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here where Smart City works to the tune of Rs.8.57 crores are being carried out under the Central government’s Madurai Smart City Mission to build up good civic infrastructure.
A press release from the Madurai Corporation here today had informed that decorative lighting works at 4 Chithirai Streets surrounding the Meenakshi Temple are a part of Smart City Madurai Plan. Construction works are underway at Periyar Bus Stand now. From the Madurai Railway Junction to Thirumalai Naicker Palace, works are being done to boost up the local civic facilities, underground drainage, Cobble Stone works, sewage drainage facilities. pipelines and works to prevent rainwater stagnation in the localities near the Meenakshi Temple here- at Aavani Moola Streets, Masi Streets, Veli Streets etc.

Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, City Engineer Mr.Arasu, EEs Mr.Sekar and Mr.Murugesa Pandian, Corporation PRO Mr.Chithravel, AE Mr.Arockia Xavier, health inspector Mr.Sivasubramanin and others were among those present during the Minister’s visit to Smart City sites in Madurai city today- on 10th October 2020.
