MADURAI: Temples in Madurai opened today for devotees after five months of COVID-19 lockdown. The famous Meenakshi Temple and Tiruparankundram temple etc were opened on 1st September 2020. Face mask is compulsory. All required precautions as announced by the government are being followed in the temples.
The Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple was opened today morning for devotees after 165 days of lockdown. Temple timings are from 6 am to 12 noon, and from 4 pm to 8 pm. Authorities are taking steps to ensure only limited number of devotees are allowed daily. Children below 10 years of age, pregnant women and persons above 65 years of age are not being allowed into the temples as a safety measure in view of Corona.
